Smack Daddy News
For March
By Max Mosquito

Aloha friends, it's been a few months since our last entry and a lot has changed in the Smack Daddy camp. We're coming to a close of another beautiful February in Southwest Florida, and I know we're all enjoying the return of our "snow bird" friends from up north and our hour long commutes to the Publix down the street. Ah, but T'is the season.
First off, Smack Daddy and all its affiliates would like to bid former guitarist, Ken Hodsdon, best wishes and a fond farewell, and welcome new guitarist, Billy Nuggets, into the Smack Daddy family. Formerly with Bob Narley and the Killer Kona Buds and Soul Kitty, Billy brings a lot of rockin' experience to the table as well as a good fashion sense. If you don't believe us, come check out his well pedicured toes and his colorful funky hair as he rocks out the masses in his bare feet and eye make up. No wonder why Brian likes him so much! Did I mention that he's a mean ass killer guitarist?
"Going to the chapel and we're going to get……" Soon all the members of Smack Daddy will be bound to the holy vows of marital bliss. As you already know, Brian and Zoë have planned to wed and will say their "I do's" in April of this year. The new news however is our drummer Mike Haddock has begun making plans and set a date to marry his sweetheart in October. Congratulations suckers! Do worry ladies; Max Mosquito still has much love to offer you all! Ladies, please contact Hunter for private escorts, exotic dances, bar mitzvahs, birthday parties, or any other affairs. Don't act like you're not tempted.
Well the boys finished off a successful February that brought a record a crowd out to DWYERS including the some major league ball players. Red Sox stars Kevin Millar and Bronson Aroyo both graced us with their presence last Friday night and seemed to love the harder numbers we were rocking. Word on the streets is that you boys do some jamming as well! You guys are welcome to sit in with us any day! I just wish the ultimate fan Rodney (Sox tattoo on left arm) and the rest of our Boston buddies would have told me sooner so I could have given you guys a great big bear hug! Red Sox Nation Represent! By the way Kevin, you'll hear me screaming out "look alive out there" and calling how many outs there are like last year for the games I can get to this spring. That's if these damn band-wagoners don't buy up all the tickets first. Go Sox!
With all this excitement at DWYERS, we boys are saddened to say so long to manager Dick Monogue who will be returning to Ireland to open up a pub of his own. Thanks for all the support, keep in touch, and may the road rise up to meet you in everything that you do. Cheers!
Make sure to check our show dates daily, because we are still in the process of booking for March and April. We're already booked for DWYERS on March 11th & 12th and for their huge St. Paddy's Day celebration on the 17th which includes local bands LST, Soapy Tuna, and the Ireland's own Screaming Orphans. Please take some time to sign into our guestbook or send anyone of us an email by clicking on our names in the members section. Don't forget to see if we have you on film in our pictures section as well. See ya later!

October News 2004
By Max Mosquito

Brian and Zoë

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, this month brings exciting news from the Smack Daddy Camp. First of all, a congratulation is in order for Brian and Zoë. This past weekend on October 1st 2004, Brian asked Zoë to marry him, and by golly, she said yes. Plans are already in motion for not only the wedding but for the stag and bridal shower as well. Don't worry ladies; the Mosquito is available to work the shower as your private dancer. The guys have already lined up Hunter to dance at Brian's stag and he wasn't cheap.
Aside from that, the boys are looking forward to a month long tour of Naples beginning with the North Naples Country Club on October 1st and 2nd. After a week of recuperation, they hit the east side for two shows at Foxboro's Sports Tavern on the 15th and then later on the 29th. A midtown one night stand treats the guys to Ridgeport Pub's hospitality on the 16th intermingled with another crazy weekend uptown with Mike and the boys from the North Naples Country Club on the 22nd and 23rd.
To finish up October, our good friends from 92.5 invited us out to play the Halloween Bash at Bennigan's in Ft. Myers. The party starts at 8PM and will include not only Smack Daddy, but the band Sophomore Jinx as well.
On top of this busy month, the band is looking to get into the studio to record a CD including two originals. Be looking for the band to start incorporating those originals into the mix no later than Christmas. We appreciate your support and hope to see you at the next show!

September News 2004
By Max Mosquito

It seems only yesterday when we were paying off Ken's parole officer to allow him out on the weekends to do gigs. But it was only after reassuring his wife that he would stay off the glue and modeling lingerie/ hooking on Bay Shore Dr., that he was able to join us in late June. We did have to compromise and allow him to wear panties, teddies, and stockings underneath his outfits. Luckily, Brian was over that David Bowie phase and gave him some really hot tight fitting numbers at a small fee. Don't worry people; Brian's not over his phase of wearing eye make up.

Getting back to the past few months, we kept pretty busy with some private functions and other gigs at Stevie Tomatoe's, Gotham Hall, and the Reef . The latter being one of a number of businesses hit hard by Hurricane Charley. Our hearts and prayers go out to the owners and all the employees there, especially Mike, the best bartender on the beach! But it was not before we celebrated drummer Mike's b-day at the Reef. If you check the pictures you can get a sneak preview or his future wife. Which brings us to the question, is it legal to marry a blowup doll in this state? Hunter seems to think so. FYI Dude, stop the late night calls, it's over let it go!

Gotham Hall was a special fond farewell to our Bud from 92.5, Bob Narley. We're gonna miss you man! By the way, you still owe me $20. We would all like to send special props to the boys in Smegma for keeping it real and exchanging shirts with our drummer Mike. It's one his hobbies. "F' you! You F'n prick!"

We also played a private function with our boy out in the Estates. Thanks Roger, you really know how to throw a ho-down! Next time, that mechanical bull is mine…. No I don't mean your X. We had a great time and are looking forward to the next one.
It's been a slow month for us, because of other obligations within the band. One huge reason is Brian's custody battle for his 200lb Samoan twins, Eukale and Mohombo. They are unfortunately still living with their Sasquatch of a mother in Hawaii. Note to self Brian, stay off the Cabo and never mix it with late night tree climbing! As it is, however, this is calm before the storm. Season's a coming, and we plan to be booked solid throughout. As you can see from the schedule, we have picked up a few new places, including Dwyers and Gotham Hall in Ft. Myers. We are always on the hunt to explore more opportunities so keep us posted, and we may be playing at a pub in your neighborhood.

The North Naples Country Club is the next place to host the boys from Smackdaddy on Sept. 24th and 25th. This will mark Bob's first time playing at the NNCC and Ken's first time back since the infamous leg hump fiasco last month. He's still trying to get that stain out. We follow that up in October with another couple stints at the NNCC and then on to Foxboro's and the Ridgeport Pub. Hope to catch you all out when you can make it. Thanks for the support!

June 2004 - Smack Daddy News

Is it June Already?
Written by: Mike Haddock

It's the start of summer ladies and gentlemen, and that means no snowbirds can prevent you from coming to see the local boys in Smackdaddy at a local establishment near you.

On Friday, June 18th, we'll be initiating Stevie Tomatoes in Naples, FL. to the Smackdaddy sounds. On Saturday, the 19th, we follow it up with a return to our home away from home at the Ridgeport Pub in Naples. Speaking of our home bar, we will now be rotating Tuesdays at our home base of Jimmy's Roadhouse with our friends the Lids starting June 1st.
The Lids are a talented group of young men fronted by Nick Yablonowski while his brother Kevin holds the solid back beat with Tim Rudzipis on bass and Greg Sallen on keys. (Mr. Max Mosquito usually sits in with these guys and sings his favorite Bee Gees hits.)

On Sundays, Brian will be joined by the talented Mike Rogers at the New Pelican Larry's on Immokalee Rd. in Naples. I personally can't wait to check out that talented union.

As far as other bookings for gigs this month, we have to wait until Brian figures out his plans to return to Indiana with Zoë. We do have offers to play the North Naples Country Club, The San Carlos Park Country Club, and a few other joints to be mentioned later. We'll keep you posted…

The New Guy, Ken!
Written by: Mike Haddock

The New Guitarists, Ken, looks like he'll be staying around awhile. As long as his urine samples turn up negative, his parole officer will allow him to play with us and cite it as the work part of his work release program.

Seriously though, Ken is a happily married father of two wonderful boys. He currently resides with his family on Marco Island. That explains his laid back demeanor and horrible driving skills.

On the other hand, his guitar talents have really taken him a long way. It helped him play and pay his way through college with a band called Madhouse Brew. It also helped him to score his lovely wife, Colleen.

Ken is actually the only known member of Smackdaddy to have the esteemed pleasure to have played with Max Mosquito. Max sang with Ken in a band called Mouth-Law, and later drummed for him in another project called Double 00. The band later dissolved just before a planned trip to Nashville to record with recording artist Dave Cloe. Ken still has a great personal relationship with Dave, and both Ken and Max look forward to working with him in the future.

Among his talents for song writing, Ken is a terrific musical director and will assist the band with his great backup vocals and sound engineering experience. Point blank, he is a ferocious player who relishes the opportunity to play with us. The band is certainly pleased to have him join the SMACKDADDY CAMP

New News for SMACKDADDY
March 2004

Smackdaddy is currently holding auditions for a new guitarist. Freddie is moving back to Jersey, which means we need an accomplished guy or girl with the proper know how and gear to rock SW Florida. Please call or email Mike at 239-289-4882 or mhaddock44@comcast.net to set up an audition. It is imperative we find someone quickly, because he leaves the 18th of March. We already have gigs lined up through April.

3/17/04 St. Patty's at Bennigan's in Naples:
As far as the St. Patty's Day gig goes, it is sponsored by Budweiser, Kettle
One Vodka, and Real Rock 92.5. They are giving away prizes that consist of
free bottles of Kettle One Vodka and a signed guitar from Staind. Shades of
Gray is opening up for us.

Tuesday's at Jimmy's:
Don't forget that we rock out at Jimmy's Roadhouse in Bonita Springs every Tuesday. Be there and see if you can take on the "big headed sandwich," it's bigger than Bob's head; No, not that head silly.

A special note:
Thanks to all of you for making Brian's coming out, I mean, birthday party a huge success. Perfect Gentlemen jammed the Motown at Jimmy's while Hunter, Bob and Max Mosquito swooned the ladies with their Fred Astaire-like moves.

In a related story, Max was later seen stealing cans of tuna and dish soup from the back stockroom at the Ridgeport Pub late Saturday night. A police report has been filed.
When asked to comment he said, "I wanted to see if Soapy Tuna tasted as bad as it sounded." Just kidding boys, we love ya! LOL MAX!

Jan 2004
Well, it is the beginning of a new year and what a year this is going to be. We started it out with a major bang and my God we are running around like chickens searching for some head... I mean for our heads HA HA HA. Between The band gigs and Brian and I doing our acoustic gigs we are just getting stronger and stronger. We are finally becoming a band of brothers as well. With the new addition of our new drummer Mike (a.k.a. Max Mosquito, I have no idea where and what the hell the name is supposed to mean) and a shitload of new material our shows are just going to become a lot more interesting. Especially if Mike starts wearing his Chip N' Dale outfits while playing his drums standing up. I told I don't mind, I just don't want to see him in a G-string nor a Thong tha tha tha thong. It is amazing how we finally have the fourth freak to join our side show.

Two new places we have visited since the beginning of the year was Alchemy's in Fort Myers and Chubby'z Bar and Grill in Port "Toilet" Charlotte. Both shows started out a little slow but ended up really cool. Alchemy's, for people who have not yet been there, let me give you my opinion of it. At first I felt like we were going to be playing in my grandmothers dining room or the Olive Garden or something like that, but when the lights went down and Mike and Bob started pounding out such heavy rhythms that made the roof shake ... you just knew it was gonna be a kick ass night.

Chubby'z was a little different of a night we entered into my home town. Where my last band Chemical Tribe used to play all the time. It was also a night of surprise guests. We had Mike from Shades of Gray come out and jam a little on "Black" and "My Own Worst Enemy." Drew was also there but when we asked him if he could play the drums left handed he sort of chickened out a little.... Drew we understand you BIG FREAK. Just kidding, Drew is a cool guy and I wouldn't want to piss him off, since he could probably bench press my fat ass. Also a Big thanks and shout out to Russ the SOG sound man.... Your a TINY FREAK!
Other guest where former band mates of mine Dominick Muzio and Gary Grosklos it was cool to get to play with them one last time in our old stomping grounds. At the same time I did not have much time to reflect because the days to come just kept on going. Gig after gig after gig.

We want to thank everyone that has been coming down to support us and please just don't stop coming. We are back at Strikers at the end of the month and as well as The Reef next month. Again we are working on new material and if I can keep Brian's mouth shut about what songs we are adding everyone and I mean everyone is going to shit when they hear our new material.
So keep on coming out to the shows we now have some cool new bumper stickers and Some shirts that we will be selling. So catch you on the flip side and remember.... No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service.... does that mean you can go shopping without any pants on WOO HOO I CAN'T WAIT TO GO SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
